64 grams of glory! NASA launches 'made-in-India' satellite

The satellite was designed and built by 18-year-old Rifath Sharook along with his other teammates. The name is christened after the former Indian President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. Rifath Sharook, an Indian teenager hailing from Tamil Nadu's Pallapatti, had created the smallest and lightest satellite in the world for US's National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Kepler space telescope has identified 219 new worlds

The new catalog release brings its total catch up to 4,034 potential planets , of which 2,335 are verified exoplanets and almost 50 are near-Earth size habitable zone candidates. Researchers are now using the Hubble Space Telescope to determine if these planets had atmosphere. The scientists discovered that the planets that are nearly the size of the Earth or smaller are usually rocky while those that are bigger than the Earth tend to be gas-formed like Neptune.
