Inflation Down to 1% in June


Canada's all-items consumer-price index in June increased 1% from a year earlier, Statistics Canada said Friday, following a 1.3% advance in the previous month. On a month-over-month basis, CPI in June declined 0.1%. The solid inflation rate within the services sector will keep the Bank of Canada on a tightening path, although a further rate increase in October will remain an open issue at this point and there should not be a major shift in rate expectations. Boots refuses to reduce 'sexist' price for morning-after pill


The British Pregnancy Advice Service (BPAS) has been urging chemists to make emergency contraception more affordable after it emerged United Kingdom women were paying up to five times as much as those on the continent. BPAS lobbied Boots to reduce the cost of the pill to make it more accessible for women having difficulty getting the drug quickly on the NHS.
