Ismail Haniya elected new Hamas leader

Abdulatif al-Qanou, Hamas spokesman in Gaza , said in an emailed press statement that Haniya replaced Khaled Meshaal, the Hamas leader that has been the chief of the movement for eight years. Haniya climbed the ranks within the movement as a close aide and assistant of Hamas' cofounder, the late Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, in 1997. Haniya served several sentences in Israeli jails in the 1980s and '90s, and briefly served as prime minister of a Palestinian unity government after the 2006 elections. Lire la suite »

SKorea: Rival N.Korea launches ballistic missile


The North has consistently test-fired missiles in that direction. South Korean President Moon Jae-in has strongly condemned rival North Korea's missile test-launch as a "clear" violation of U.N.
