Google Focuses on ARCore, Announces Death of Tango

Google has today taken down the official Project Tango website, and through its twitter account announced that support is being discontinued on March 1, 2018. It was because of this, the lack software beyond some tech demos, plus only two compatible devices - the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro and the Asus ZenFone AR - that help facilitate Tango's demise. Google to shut down Project Tango AR platform

Project Tango looks like it will be breathing its last with two flagships continuing the legacy. So instead, Google is shifting priority to ARCore, the new augmented reality platform for Android that launched this summer . Google designed ARCore to run on regular (albeit higher-end) Android smartphones running Nougat or later.
