Police are working to determine if the animal, discovered by an SES worker, was alive or dead before it was dismembered. Investigators have been told there have been a spate of incidents involving animal mutilations, similar to this one. Victoria Police said in a statement the incident followed a series of kangaroo and wallaby mutilations in the area.
