Q2's economic GDP in the USA increased 3.1% vs 3%


The April-June expansion in the gross domestic product - the economy's total output of goods and services - is up slightly from a 3 percent estimate made a month ago, the Commerce Department reported Thursday. GDP, the value of everything produced in America, was revised up to an annualized growth rate of 3.1% from 3%. BlackBerry Software Sales Hit New Record

The Waterloo, Ont. -based software and services company earned US$19 million in the three-month period ending on August 31, compared with a net loss of US$372 million in the year-ago period. Enterprise software and services revenue rose to $91 million from $84 million and licensing, IP and other revenue grew to $56 million from $16 million, while handheld devices revenue dropped to $16 million from $105 million.
