Modi, Trudeau discuss terrorism, trade ties

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau attended a Hockey event at Canadian High Commission in New Delhi on Saturday.

Stepping up the pressure on Maldivian President Abdulla Yameen after the Maldives extended the state of emergency, both India and Canada on Friday in a joint statement "deplored the degradation of judicial independence and authority, and of democratic institutions" in the tiny archipelago nation.

The two leaders discussed issues of terrorism and extremism as well as ways to boost bilateral trade ties and partnership, after which the two sides inked six pacts, including one on energy cooperation.
