Salvation Army Kettle Campaign Surpasses Goal!

25 Décembre 2017

The Thunder Bay Christmas Kettle campaign surpassed the $200,000 objective this year thanks to the generosity of everyone in our community.

"There are some toys for kids, and there's some blankets and some other objects", says James Shiels, the commanding officer at Charlottesville's Salvation Army.

The money will support different Salvation Army programs and services to help the less fortunate in Windsor-Essex.

"Our donations her at Lebanon as of today is 75 percent of our goal with three days left to go", Captain Ernesto Portillo of the Salvation Army of Lebanon said on Thursday.

"The community has been very supportive of our programs this year and I want to say thank you", Portillo said.

Pence says 'real progress' in war in Afghanistan
Pence said he was hopeful that eventually the Taliban "will tire of losing" and will be willing to negotiate a peace deal. Pence says that, because of that decision, the USA has been sending more resources and troops into Afghanistan.

"Together we are making a difference to many worthy people in our community".

The Salvation Army had a goal for this year's Red Kettle campagin of $1.4 million dollars, and as of Saturday, they are short by nearly$500,000. These funds will be used in Thunder Bay.

The organization received an anonymous donation of $20,000.

This campaign would not be possible without the support of the volunteers who worked so tirelessly throughout the campaign. What a fantastic gift! As well, we are grateful to the businesses that have allowed us to place kettles in their establishments, Halfway Motors Nissan who provided a vehicle, Tbaytel for the donation of a cell phone, and Mastrangelo Fuels for assistance with fuel.
