Man planned Christmas terror attack for SF's Pier 39

22 Décembre 2017

A man allegedly plotting a Christmas attack at San Francisco's Pier 39 in support of ISIS has been thwarted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Jameson specifically named Pier 39 in San Francisco as a target for a terrorist attack because he "knew that it was a heavily crowded area", according to the complaint.

The time in question for the possible attack was between December 18 and 25 because, according to Jameson, "Christmas was the ideal day to commit the attack". Jameson is also said to have posted about his radical beliefs on social media and stated his support for the October 31 terror attack in NY that killed eight people.

Everitt Aaron Jameson, 26, was arrested Wednesday morning at his home in Modesto, according to court documents. The documents also say Jameson was posting and liking pro-ISIS and pro-terrorism content on Facebook.

According to the undercover agent, Jameson said he wanted to use explosives and "funnel" people into a location where he could inflict casualties. Jameson planned to go to the mountains and build the devices at a remote campground, then store them at his home in Modesto, said officials.

Jameson had prior military experience, according to the complaint.

A search warrant was executed at Jameson's Modesto home on December 20. Several firearms were found, along with fireworks. Stay with ABC7 News for the latest details on this developing story.
