Rooney's spot kick was pushed against the post by Lukasz Fabianski but Calvert-Lewin reacted quickly and drove home the rebound to the relief of the former England captain.

Everton were awarded a second penalty after 73 minutes, which Swansea complained about with some justification.

Everton young striker, Dominic Calvert-Lewin found himself sharing Everton's attacking line with one of the best English strikers in the history, Wayne Rooney after Everton signed him from Manchester United.

"It is a great three points considering how poorly we played in the first half".

While Swansea remained four points from safety after 18 games, keeping manager Paul Clement under pressure for his job, Everton rose to ninth place and has some momentum for the first time this season.

"The mood in the dressing room is very flat".

"We're bottom of the table on 12 points".

There was not a lot to choose between the sides for the first 20 minutes of the second period until Sigurdsson came up with his moment of magic. He cut in from the left before curling his effort from about 200 yards into the top left corner.

Martin Olsson was ruled to have tripped Jonjoe Kenny but replays showed the foul had been committed outside the area.

Rooney made the game safe for Everton by slamming home his second penalty of the night in the 73rd, with Fabianski getting fingertips to the ball but not keeping it out this time.
