There are some prominent male Democrats who have called on Trump to resign over the allegations-including Senators Cory Booker (D-N.J.), Bernie Sanders (D-Vt.), Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.), Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) and Bob Casey (D-Pa.).
People familiar with Franken's plans said he has not changed his mind and intends to formally resign in early January. Mr. Franken refused to resign initially, calling for an ethics review before a decision was made. The day before he announced his resignation, 32 Democrats in the Senate publicly called for him to quit.
"The most hypocritical thing I've ever seen done to a human being - and then have enough guts to sit on the floor, watch him give his speech and go over and hug him?" "I've moved on", Manchin said. "Made me sick", Manchin said.
"Let's just say I respectfully disagree", Representative Lois Frankel (D-Fla.) told Newsweek of Jones's and Manchin's statements "You should be able to chew gum and walk at the same time". Two of the Democrats who spoke to Politico on background emphasized the pressure they felt to call on Franken to resign and subsequent regret. Leahy declined to comment.
"I think we acted prematurely, before we had all the facts", one lawmaker said.
A top Minnesota Democrat told CNN that Smith is in Washington on Monday and fellow Minnesota Sen.
National gas price average at its lowest point in 110 days
Christmas is a week away, and the average retail gas prices in Baton Rouge have fallen 5.5 cents per gallon in the past week. The average price for a gallon of gas in CT is $2.65 ($2.67), $2.63 in NY ($2.65) and $2.71 in Pennsylvania ($2.73).
The outlet also spoke to sources reportedly privy to a conversation between Franken and Sen.
The feeling is not pervasive throughout the conference.
Franken's office has said he will make way early next month for Tina Smith, the lieutenant governor whom DFL Gov. Mark Dayton picked as an interim replacement. But it has been the women in the party who have largely led efforts to hold Trump accountable for the accusations he is facing.
Gillibrand has said that sending a clear message of zero tolerance is important, and that she was anxious that the Ethics Committee process was being used as a shield. "People should have a process".
Some Senate Democrats are calling on Sen. Al Franken should not resign in the wake of allegations of sexual misconduct.
Manchin noted that Franken was willing to go through Congress' ethics investigation process and deal with whatever consequences came of that before he was urged to leave.
