18 Décembre 2017

Adapting to the seismic shift, humanity persists by creating a series of giant, moving cities that hunt smaller towns and hamlets across the plains of the Earth. The story follows Tom Natsworthy (Robert Sheehan), a man from the Lower Tier of the great traction city of London, who has to fight for his survival alongside the risky fugitive Hester Shaw (Hera Hilmar). "Two opposites, whose paths should never have crossed, forge an unlikely alliance that is destined to change the course of the future".

Fans of epic fantasy and horror filmmaker Peter Jackson have their first look at his next project, the steampunk-themed "Mortal Engines". Ken Kamins (The Hobbit trilogy) joins Boyens as executive producer.

This film will be the directorial debut of Christian Rivers, who worked as a storyboard artist and art director on Peter Jackson's The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Universal will distribute the film worldwide.

Unlike Star Wars, Mortal Engines does not take place in a galaxy far far away.

It sounds like a pretty cool concept, particularly with Jackson and a talented team of Lord of the Rings writers behind the script. Rivers won an Oscar for Visual Effects for his work on King Kong. And then there's actor Hugo Weaving (not seen in this trailer), once again showing up for a Jackson production. The trailer arrives courtesy of Universal Pictures.
