Gujarat polls: Senior leaders cast their votes; 12% voting till 10 am

"Modiji will cast his vote at a poll booth in the Nishan High School in Ranip locality of Sabarmati". I request to the voters of Gujarat that they come in huge numbers for voting and keep the journey of development with the BJP, Jaitley lauded media after casting his vote in Ahmedabad's Vejalpur.

After voting, Shah hailed the Gujarat Model of Development under the BJP government and urged the people to vote for the saffron party.

"I would also appeal to the people to come out and exercise their franchise and continue the journey", he said.

Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel will vote at Kadi constituency in Mehsana district, the release said.

Amit Shah was an MLA from Naranpura Assembly constituency before getting elected to the Rajya Sabha in August this year.

After an acrimonious campaign, voting for the second and final phase of the Gujarat assembly elections was held today in 93 seats of north and central Gujarat.

A total of 851 candidates are in the fray for the second phase.

The voter turnout in the first phase of the polls was 68 per cent.

The election is being seen as a "prestige battle" for Modi and a litmus test for the leadership of Congress president-elect Rahul Gandhi.

Counting of votes will be taken up on December 18.
