Twenty-three new title sponsors have been added to the LPGA portfolio in the last six years, including South Korean skincare company L&P Cosmetic, which will sponsor the new event at Lake Merced outside San Francisco.
While it lost two events next year, namely the Lorena Ochoa Match Play in Mexico and the Manulife LPGA Classic in Canada, the LPGA replaced them with three new tournaments.
The only event on the mainland of China will be the tour's third inaugural contest to be contested in Shanghai from October 18-21, course and sponsor TBA.
"Perhaps the most important aspect of our schedule is the consistency-continuing to deliver strong playing opportunities both in North America and around the world, while growing overall purse levels every year", LPGA commissioner Michael Whan said in a statement.
Coming off a year in which 17 players earned at least $1 million, the LPGA Tour put together a 2018 schedule that it hopes to build momentum.
Modest prize money increases were also announced for two of the five women's major championships. Players will again wave to the iconic Dinah Shore statue that welcomes competition to the 18th green at Mission Hills Country Club's Dinah Shore Course in Rancho Mirage, Calif. Shoal Creek G.C.in Alabama will serve as host, with its $5 million purse the largest of the season. The KPMG Women's PGA heads back to IL in 2018, this time to Kemper Lakes Golf Club, where Payne Stewart won the 1989 PGA Championship. The 120-year-old course has hosted 11 Open Championships and four Women's British Opens, most recently Catriona Matthew's victory in 2009, which came just 11 weeks after giving birth. The exclusive cable home to the LPGA Tour, Golf Channel aired coverage of four of five women's major championships in 2017, with three majors also airing on NBC: the KPMG Women's PGA Championship, RICOH Women's British Open and The Evian Championship. In 2018, the tournament will be played in the same mid-September slot it has held since 2013, when it first received major status. Named for 10-time major champion Annika Sorenstam, the honor is bestowed on the player who, during the current LPGA season, has the most outstanding major championship record.

NBC Sports Group combined to air 31 LPGA Tour events in 2017 and a total of 420 hours of coverage, the most in LPGA history.
The LPGA will again kick off its season at the Pure Silk Bahamas Classic, from January 25-28, and wrap up with the CME Group Tour Championship in Naples, Fla.
Classic officials announced their new date last July.
