American Sarah Robles became the first athlete from the United States to win gold at the championships in 23 years as she swept to victories in all three categories with 126kg (snatch), 158kg (clean and jerk) and 284kg (total). Robles totalled 284 kilograms ahead of Hubbard, who lifted 275kg, and Egyptian Shaimaa Khalaf on 268kg.Talakhadze won the men's super-heavyweights with a total of 477kg, improving his own world record by 4kg.
Hubbard complied with regulations on transgender athletes laid down by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), whose guidelines are followed by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF). Hubbard refused to discuss her achievement and refused to attend media conferences after the International Weightlifting Championships medals ceremony.
Hubbard finished runner-up in the snatch category in the women's 90kg-plus division at the event in California, with her best successful lift coming at 124kg. But not everyone is happy about Hubbard competing as a woman. Swords said that there was no controversy between the lifters about Hubbard's presence in the game, but there was between some of the coaching team members, and Hubbard was abused on social media before the IWF.
"She stayed away because she was embarrassed, probably", Swords told the outlet regarding Hubbard.
"However there're still things we need to improve on and the association and the coaching staff will review the performance in Anaheim and try to improve for future tournaments", she added.

He is now gearing up to compete as a female at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Rival athletes complained that she had an unfair advantage after winning gold at the Australian Open this year, lifting 123 kilos in the snatch and 145 kilos in the clean and jerk.
