Suzuki, Gadjovich Invited To World Junior Final Camp

Former Penticton Vees defenceman Dante Fabbro has earned an invite to Canada's national junior team selection camp for the 2018 IIHF World Junior Championship.

Two Owen Sound Attack players are Team Canada invitees.

As the World Junior A Challenge nears, both teams have completed their tryout camps and have selected 22 players each from across the country.

The other four contending teams - the Cubs, Padres , Giants and Dodgers - are all capped at $300,000 that they can offer. Rosenthal notes that the Mariners now have $2.55 million in worldwide slot money while the Angels have $2.315 million.

The selection camp, taking place in St. Catherines, Ont. from December 12 to 15, has a roster includes Fabbro and six other returnees from last year's silver medal team: goaltender Carter Hart (Sherwood Park, Alta./Everett, WHL); defencemen Jake Bean (Calgary/Calgary, WHL), Kale Clague (Lloydminster, Alta./Brandon, WHL), and Dante Fabbro (Coquitlam, B.C./Boston University, HE); and forwards Dillon Dubé (Cochrane, Alta./Kelowna, WHL), Michael McLeod (Mississauga, Ont./Mississauga, OHL) and Taylor Raddysh (Caledon, Ont./Erie, OHL).

Canada will compete in exhibition games against Czech Republic in London, Ontario, on December 20, and Switzerland in Hamilton, Ont., on December 22. He was voted the Canadian Junior Hockey League MVP in May. 5 in Buffalo, N.Y. Canada will open the tournament against Finland in a Group A preliminary-round game at Key Bank Center in Buffalo on December 26.

Both Canada East and West will hit the ice Sunday, Dec. 10, with Canada West playing Czech Republic at 3:30 p.m. and Canada East playing Russian Federation at 7:30 p.m.at the Rath-Eastlink Community Centre.
