Cape and Islands State Senator Julian Cyr (D-Truro) says he supports the investigation into the sexual misconduct allegations levied against former Senate President Stanley Rosenberg's husband.
The ethics committee will reportedly hire an outside investigator as Democratic Majority Leader Harriette Chandler will take over as the state Senate's acting president.

Rosenberg, who has not been accused of wrongdoing, expressed shock over the allegations reported last week by The Boston Globe.
Rosenberg, who took a leave from his president post Monday, had claimed almost three years ago when he assumed the presidency that he had placed a "firewall" between his husband and the Senate after Hefner bragged about influence in the Senate. "I believe this is in the best interests of the Senate".
Other candidates could yet come forward.
The investigation will focus on whether Rosenbergknew about Hefner's alleged behavior, or if Hefner had any clout when it came to matters before the chamber.
Members of the Senate's Ethics Committee yesterday said it's their "intention" to release a report on its investigation while protecting the confidentiality of any victims or witnesses.

He also admitted he had a life jacket but "lacks sufficient information to know whether or not his mother used one of her own". Nathan Carman is the man whose mother disappeared while the two were on a fishing trip a year ago .
"I am confident that Senator Chandler will perform the duties of Acting Senate President with integrity and professionalism during this unexpectedly tumultuous time", Cyr added.
Democratic U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren weighed in Monday, telling reporters "the charges against the Senate president's husband are disgusting and the people who have leveled these charges have a right to be heard and to be respected and protected". Her steady hand will be important during the investigation.
"I don't have to tell you how turbulent and tragic and surprising and very sad the last four days have been for all of us", Chandler said.
Whether that firewall stood up should also be part of the investigation, said Sen.
Rosenberg says Hefner is seeking professional help.
The investigation will look into whether Rosenberg's husband Bryon Hefner had any influence over Senate business.
Several men told the Globe that Hefner sexually assaulted or harassed them, including three men who said Hefner grabbed their genitals.
She has said she will step down at that point. The Gloucester Republican agreed that it could make victims more likely to come forward. "The independent investigation by the thorough, proper, and prompt, and I am hopeful that, together, with the criminal investigation Attorney General Maura Healey and Suffolk District Attorney Daniel Conley are prepared to open, we will be able to address these allegations and get to the truth of the matter".
