Google Maps Motorcycle Mode Launched in India for 2 Wheeler

The mode will be visible along side vehicle, train, and walking options.

The report also asserts that there have been sightings of the mode just by Indian clients, making it the primary market for the component.

Google has rolled out a new "two-wheeler mode" in Maps, the company announced in its Google for India at New Delhi on December 5. A few clients in India are revealing seeing another Motorcycle mode or Two-Wheeler mode in the most recent form of Google Maps (v9.67.1) for Android. We had recently Google CEO Sundar Pichai's comments about India playing an important role in improving Google Maps and other Google products. The feature will reportedly show parking status at the destination as well, along with road closures on the way. Plus not all streets in India are wide enough to fit in bigger vehicles like auto. Also, the estimated time of arrival (ETA) shown in in this mode is likely to be less than that for auto.

First reported by Android Police, the publication got a hold of screenshots from one such user in India and the photos show that the new Motorcycle mode has been incorporated to help bikers in the country find the route most suitable for their vehicles.

Android Police notes that Motorcycle Mode has popped up in the source code for some of the previous versions but this is the first time that we are seeing it go live with the latest version.
