Christian Benteke pushing to start for Crystal Palace

25 Novembre 2017

Christian Benteke came back from a spell out injured himself last week, when he was brought on as a Palace substitute, and having had that game time he could be in line to start against the midlands outfit.

"They'll seriously threaten the Stoke defence with the pace of Wilfried Zaha but they still haven't kept a league clean sheet".

"If you look at the strength they have at the top end of the pitch then you would anticipate they will turn things around".

Injured in the Eagles' 5-0 defeat to Manchester City at the end of September, Benteke has had to watch from the stands as his teammates have misfired in attack, with them only netting six goals in their twelve Premier League games to date, which has seen them only record five points, but could the return of the bustling Belgian global turn Palace's torrid league form around?

"Possibly they haven't had the defensive platform to enable them to release the quality attackers they have to win matches for them".

I just don't see it happening against Stoke, though.

Palace have never lost to Stoke in four previous Premier League meetings at Selhurst Park, winning three games and drawing the other.

More crucially, it gave the Leafs an advantage nearly immediately after they were thoroughly outplayed in the first. But goals by Carolina's Elias Lindholm and Noah Hanifin pulled the Canes within 5-4 in a tense final four minutes.

They have received a couple of timely boosts in that quest with players returning from injury to be available for the match.

Roy Hodgson's side are unbeaten in their last three home games, winning one and drawing two.

Crystal Palace are shown an average of two bookings per Premier League game this season.

The Potters, like Palace and Everton, have conceded 24 goals; only West Ham, with 25, have let in more.

Xherdan Shaqiri has scored two goals and assisted five so far in 2017-18.

Probability of away win: 27%.
