The national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, says President Muhammadu Buhari will not support any form of imposition of candidates within the party.
Condemning governors who had already publicly endorsed President Buhari for 2019, Tinubu said the governors lacked the power to do so, as such action contravened the APC constitution.

"Buhari is a believer in the process".
Mr. Okorocha had spoken while addressing leaders of the Democratic Youths Congress for Buhari 2019, who paid him a courtesy visit on Tuesday.
We wanted him even before the last convention and primary of the party and Akeredolu is here standing with me, he was not the governor then.
"We will follow all the constitutional provision and an individual opinion does not matter at this stage, Buhari will want a normal process". But if the national body, the national executive committee and all of us as members endorsed him as our single candidate, we will not be violating INEC regulations, we will not be violating our party constitution.
"What you are hearing is just a campaign".

Tinubu was accompanied to the state by the former interim national chairman of the APC, Chief Bisi Akande and the South West National Vice Chairman of the party Chief Pius Akinyelure. His intellect is still very intact.
Speaking on the reason it took him so long to visit the leadership of Afenifere, Tinubu said: "Whatever is my decision is my decision and as a reporter, you can not be asking me that".
The meeting, which was also attended by Afenifere chieftains, including its Secretary General, Chief Sheinde Arogbofa, sources said, may not be unconnected with preparations for the 2019 general elections.
Tinubu pointedly told the APC Governors' Forum, led by Rochas Okorocha, that all candidates interested in the party's presidential ticket would go through the due process of primaries. "We are here to seek his advice, seek his understandings and prayers; that is why I am here". "I am a democrat and I believe in constitutional democracy". "That is why I am here".
The APC national leader stated this in Akure, Ondo State capital, during a private visit to the leadership of the pan Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, Reuben Fasoranti, some 14 years after parting ways with the group.
Fasoranti said: "This is an indication of great things to come". Sources also said the meeting may be aimed at finding a common course for Yoruba leaders ahead of general polls.
"He has been a great leader to all of us".
The leader of the APC, was visiting Fasoranti nearly after 14 years when he parted ways with the mainstream Afenifere to form a splinter group called Afenifere Renewal Group ARG. "This signal shows we will come together.".
