Manitoba premier Brian Pallister injured during hike in New Mexico

Brian Pallister is recovering after suffering a "serious fall" while hiking with his wife in New Mexico.

According to the province, Pallister was hiking in the Gila Wilderness area with his wife when he fell.

He suffered compound fractures in his left arm, along with numerous cuts and bruises.

He was taken to hospital overnight in Silver City, N.M.

Winston was accused of sexual assault while at Florida State, but no charges were officially filed. The report said Winston was the only passenger in the vehicle at the time of the alleged incident.

The premier will return to Manitoba today and be re-evaluated to determine if he needs surgery.

His office says he will be resting at home with his family this weekend.

"The premier continues to work on preparations for the opening of a new session of the Manitoba Legislature and next week's speech from the throne", the release states.

"He. would like to thank police and medical personnel for their quality care", a government statement reads.
