NFL says Jerry Jones' actions are 'detrimental' to league

The Associated Press has obtained a letter sent to Jones' attorney accusing the team owner of "conduct detrimental to the league's best interests" over his objection to a contract extension for Goodell. "We urge Mr. Jones to honor the resolution that he and his fellow owners adopted and allow the Committee to continue its work, in compliance with the May 2017 Resolution and the League Constitution".

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell (left) visits with Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones before their first preseason game with the Los Angeles Rams at the Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles, California, Saturday, August 13, 2016.

The Cowboys did not respond the Journal's request for comment.

The feud has gotten to the point where some of the owners have talked about removing Jones.

Burma's treatment of Rohingya Muslims 'looks like ethnic cleansing', says Downing Street
Burmese leader Aung San Suu Kyi has been condemned by the worldwide community for her failure to stand up for the Rohingya. It came as Burmese government announced that the army general in charge of operations in Rakhine state has been replaced.

Jones has said in recent weeks that he has only been trying to increase the transparency of the contract negotiations and give more owners a voice in the process.

The NFL maintains that no further vote of the owners is required for an extension to be completed between the compensation committee and Goodell after the owners voted, 32-0, in May to authorize the committee to negotiate the extension. This comes after Boies sent another letter on Tuesday saying that Jones had a document that shows that certain statements made about Goodell's negotiations "are not accurate".

Specifically, the league targeted Jones for attempting to sabotage Commissioner Goodell's contract extension.

There has also been chatter amongst some owners about potentially taking the Cowboys franchise away from Jones, something he and son Stephen both dismissed in interviews earlier this week.
