Fantastic Feng wins in Blue Bay

13 Novembre 2017

Feng yesterday shot a two-under 70 for a nine-under 279 total while Moriya also concluded with a 70 for 280.

Feng is looking to become the first back-to-back victor of 2017.

The 28-year-old claimed a one-shot victory on home soil at the Blue Bay LPGA, following on from successfully defending her Japan Classic title last week.

Feng Shanshan is to be China's first golfer ranked world number one after she claimed back-to-back wins with a thrilling victory at the Blue Bay LPGA today.

Current world No 1 Sung Hyun Park shared third spot with Ashleigh Buhai, Megan Khang and Jessica Korda, with Korea's Na Yeon Choi one of three players six off the lead in tied-seventh.

Feng's fellow Chinese players showered the trailblazer in water on the 18th green and she told LPGA.com: "I'm really excited and very proud of myself, and I think it's special because I won this tournament to become world No. 1. Hopefully there will be more Chinese getting on the tours and more world No. 1s coming up from China".

Braves to hire Alex Anthopoulos as GM
Anthopoulos, 40, served as GM of the Toronto Blue Jays from the 2010 season through the 2015 season. Alex Anthopoulos will be calling the shots for an Major League Baseball team once again.

Moriya was gracious in defeat, complimenting the Chinese crowd for cheering on Feng to her victory. "As long as I try to give myself a chance, I think it's a pretty good thing to do", Jutanugarn said of playing the last hole.

The deposed number one Park was tied third and relinquishes the top spot after just one week.

"However, that didn't happen because I didn't realize that actually the par putt that I was facing could be so, so, so important, and I was really nervous, especially on the half a yard, I was a little bit nervous, even shivering".

She'll be taking this momentum of these two wins into the final event of the year next week, the CME Tour Championship in Naples, Fla., where there is a $1 million bonus on the line.

"I just want 2017 to keep going", said Feng said. "A never-ending 2017, that would be great", she said.
