Angels, Upton agree on contract

02 Novembre 2017

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Justin Upton agreed to a five-year contract extension, the team announced on Thursday.

The Angels acquired Upton from the Tigers just before the waiver trade deadline passed in August and sent Grayson Long and Elvin Rodriguez to Detroit in return.

So maybe Justin Verlander will be jetting off to get married to Kate Upton instead of waving from a vehicle on Friday. Signing the five-year pact gives Upton an extra year in return for not exercising the opt-out clause, says Nightengale.

Ligue Europa : Mariano pas titulaire, Cornet oui
Lyon: Lopes - Rafael, Marcelo, Diakhaby, Mendy - Tousart, Ndombele - Cornet, Fekir (c), Depay - Traoré. Au milieu, Ndombele remplace Aouar, titulaire en Ligue 1 la semaine passée.

Upton had the right to opt out of that deal for free agency after the World Series. Upton will be paid $16 million in 2018, $18 million in 2019, $21 million in 2020, $23 million in 2021, and $28 million in 2022.

The 30-year-old outfielder posted career highs in home runs (35), RBIs (109) and OPS (.901) splitting time between the Tigers and Angels.

By resigning Upton, the Angels have given their lineup a big boost as they try to find players to compliment Mike Trout.
