Top CPC leaders reaffirm mission at Party's birthplace

01 Novembre 2017

Xi and the other six members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee - Li Keqiang, Li Zhanshu, Wang Yang, Wang Huning, Zhao Leji and Han Zheng - arrived in Shanghai from Beijing by air on Tuesday morning. The leaders paid homage to the Party's birthplace and founding fathers. Xi, who is also the Party chief, and the other leaders also visited the Nanhu Lake Revolution Museum in Zhejiang yesterday afternoon.

At the memorial hall of the first CPC National Congress in Shanghai, Xi led the other six leaders in reciting the admission oath in front of the Party flag, reminding Party members to remain true to their original aspirations.

The distinction places Xi on a par with Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaoping.

"We cannot forget the road that we have taken no matter how far we march", Xi said.

"As long as the Party and all Chinese people unite and work hard, the great ship of national rejuvenation of the Chinese nation will reach its glorious destination", he said. In 1921, the first CPC National Congress reconvened in a red boat on the lake after it was interrupted by authorities in what was then the French concession in Shanghai. In 2006, when Xi was Party secretary of Zhejiang, he laid the cornerstone of the memorial.

Chris Silverwood: Essex head coach to be England bowling coach
Chris Silverwood , Essex's head coach, is set to be appointed as the successor to Ottis Gibson as England's bowling coach. Essex will feel the loss, after Silverwood turned the team around from a period of underachievement in the second tier.

Xi called on CPC members to implement the Red Boat spirit in the new era, which highlights pioneering work, persistence and dedication. "These are the roots of the Party".

"Our Party was born here, our journey began here, and our rule of the country all dates back to here", Xi said.

Nguyen Phu Trong said vietnam hails the great achievement made in the 19th CPC National Congress and believes the brotherly Chinese people can fulfill the grand goals set at the congress under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Xi at the core. Twelve delegates attended that first CPC National Congress in July 1921, representing more than 50 Party members nationwide.

"The original aspiration of the CPC members must never change", he said, adding that only in this way could the Party keep on striving and win the hearts of the people.

They must keep in mind the noble ideal of Communism and the shared ideal of socialism with Chinese characteristics, remain humble and prudent, and fearless hardships and sacrifices, in order to realize the two Centenary Goals and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, Xi said.
