Directors Guild of America files disciplinary charges against Harvey Weinstein

22 Octobre 2017

The Directors Guild Of America has launched disciplinary proceedings against Harvey Weinstein following a series of sexual assault allegations.

The association said it has filed a complaint on October 13.

The DGA released the news after its quarterly National Board of Directors meeting in New York City on Saturday. There must be no tolerance for such deplorable abuses of power. In a statement, the guild also condemned sexual harassment, noting that the issue went beyond "one person" and urged those in the industry to break a "shameful code of complicity" by speaking out about the problem. Each individual has the right to a safe work environment.

DGA president Thomas Schlamme added in his own statement: 'As a man in this industry, I have a responsibility to not just condemn the actions of others, but to look inside myself. I ask all of us to do the same.

"Unless we recognize what has become so acceptable in our culture and how we possibly, even unconsciously, are participants, everything else will be meaningless", the president said.
