20 Octobre 2017

Late Thursday night, Quinerly, a five-star point guard who is ranked No. 23 overall in the ESPN 100, announced via Twitter that he and his family decided that it was in his "best interest to retract my verbal commitment from the University of Arizona". "Your positivity and kindness never goes unnoticed".

Quinerly has since hired a lawyer, but told ESPN he had not been contacted by authorities as part of the investigation.

At the USA Basketball Junior National Team minicamp two weeks ago, Quinerly said he remained committed to Arizona - but was "not sure" whether he would end up there.

Arizona has been at the center of the FBI's sweeping probe into college basketball recruiting improprieties, resulting in the arrest of Arizona assistant coach Emanuel "Book" Richardson, who helped recruit Quinerly to Arizona.

A skilled, cerebral and talented lead guard that has become known for his developed skillset, Quinerly was heavily recruited by Villanova, Kansas, UCLA and Virginia before committing to Arizona in August. The documents allege a $15,000 bribe from Richardson to Player-5, who "verbally committed to attending" Arizona "on or about August 9, 2017".
