Grizzlies will retire Tony Allen's No. 9 jersey

Today, the Grizzlies announced that they will eventually retire Tony Allen's jersey, which is a terrific decision by the Grizzlies, because Tony Allen is a national treasure.

Grizzlies owner Robert J. Pera commended Allen for his services in the past seven seasons.

McLeod to miss four to six weeks
McLeod was the Devils' first-round pick in the 2016 NHL Draft, and spent last season playing for the Mississauga Steelheads in the Ontario Hockey League.

Tony Allen will return to Memphis on Friday for the Pelicans' preseason game against the Grizzlies, but it might be a little more emotional than usual.

Tony Allen may not be considered a star caliber player but it good to see a player be acknowledged for the hard work and dedication he provided to a team. "He helped establish a Grizzlies culture focused on toughness and effort, and he challenged every player that put on Beale Street Blue to match his fiery intensity", Pera said. On behalf of the entire organization, I would like to thank him for his incredible contributions to the Grizzlies and the unique way that he inspired the city of Memphis. "We are proud that the Grindfather's #9 jersey will hang in the rafters of FedExForum alongside Zach's one day". Memphis was also the place Tony Allen got the opportunity to prove himself as one of the toughest defenders in the league receiving NBA All-Defensive First-Team honors in 2012, 2013, 2015 and NBA All-Defensive Second Team honors in 2011, 2016, 2017. "There would never have been seven straight years of playoff appearances, the incredible electricity in FedExForum for home games, "Grit and Grind" and "Believe Memphis' without Tony Allen's contributions to the team. Tony and his family will be missed but his impact on the Grizzlies and Memphis will never be forgotten", Wallace said".
