Beau Biden died of brain cancer in 2015.
WARMINSTER More than 27,000 adults in DE have already been trained in the Darkness to Light Stewards of Children program, which is created to teach adults how to recognize signs of, react responsibly to and prevent child sexual abuse.
"This cause is very important to me, not only because of other children, but because of my own three children", ShopRite of Warminster owner Joe Cowhey said. At a time when fewer and fewer elected officials serve in uniform, Beau Biden deployed to Iraq as his state's sitting attorney general.
Brexler said Doylestown Health is excited to be part of the new partnership.
"Child sex abuse is the leading health risk in children", he said.
Members of the audience listen as former Vice President Joe Biden talks about a new partnership between the Beau Biden Foundation for the Protection of Children and Doylestown Health on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, at Ann's Choice in Warminster.
"The goal of this training is to take medical professionals and others who commonly associate with children and be really sensitive and hypersensitive to those issues, so if there is those subtle suggestions or symptoms, hopefully we'll be able to identify them and uncover a situation before there's more harm being done", Levy said.
"Thirty-five percent of the victims of child abuse are under the age of 11", Biden said.Читайте также: Paramedics save man after he swallows whole live dover sole
Funding for the partnership comes from ShopRite of Warminster.
Two of his children were adopted after having been foster children, he said.
He said it's important that people learn how to react to signs of child abuse.
There are lifelong implications to abuse, he said, with the scars showing in ways such as abuse victims being more likely to fall prey to alcoholism or drug addiction, drop out of school or be a pregnant teenager. "The cardinal sin was for a man to use his power to abuse a woman or a child".
Beau Biden addressed child abuse as a community problem, not an individual one, his father said.
"We know that those cases, the number of children who disclose and report, is nationally - and it's true here - far smaller than the number of children who are sexually abused", Ettinger added.
The new partnership will save lives and make the community stronger and safer, he said. "But I also hope it contributes to a larger discussion we as the residents of Bucks County have about protecting children from abuse and speaking up when we see or suspect something".При любом использовании материалов сайта и дочерних проектов, гиперссылка на обязательна.
