Thomas S. Monson will not attend General Conference

29 Septembre 2017

As church president, Monson is considered a prophet, seer and relevator.

Monson will not attend this weekend's sessions of general conference, the church confirmed Thursday afternoon.

"Elder Robert D. Hales was admitted to the hospital several days ago for treatment of pulmonary and other conditions", said Eric Hawkins, spokesman for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Both he and Elder Robert D. Hales will miss this General Conference weekend.

Kenya's talks collapse on how to conduct a fresh election
Kenyatta has said he does not want changes. "We have no option but to take the battle to the people", Raila said. He charged that Odinga is attempting to delay the elections because he is not ready.

Though the church didn't issue specific information about why Monson won't be attending, it referred back to a May 23 announcement about "limitations incident to his age", according to the Deseret News. He cited an earlier statement church officials released in May saying President Monson would no longer attend regular meetings.

"I continue to work with doctors and physical therapists to regain my strength", Elder Hales said in a statement in October 2011. "He communicates and confers with his counselors on matters as needed".

The 90-year-old President Monson, who has served as the president and prophet of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since February 3, 2008, is dealing with limitations related to age. "He appreciates the prayers and support of church members".
