Ram Nath Kovind is scheduled to visit Djibouti and Ethiopia from October 3 on his maiden trip overseas as President, a trip which assumes significance given India's efforts to expand its footprint in Africa at a time when Chinese presence is growing in the continent.

Speaking on the occasion, the President said that tourism is one of the largest industries in the world.

Kishan Rao, and Director, Chowmahala Palace has attended the awards function and received awards.

In 2016, India welcomed 8.80 million foreign tourists, an increase of 9.7 per cent over the previous year.

"Of those who join the Indian Institutes of Technology each year, just about 10 per cent are women", Kovind said, adding that these numbers are simply not acceptable.
