Skyrim Special Edition - Survival Mode is now available in beta form

Map outlining Skyrim climate zones. The new mode adds gameplay features such as hunger, fatigue, temperature effects and the inability to fast travel, making it harder than ever to survive the wilds of the land.

In Survival Mode, carry weight has been significantly reduced, shrines no longer cure diseases for free, both vampires and werewolves can restore their hunger by feeding on their victims, creatures across the land now carry threatening new diseases, previous diseases are now even more debilitating., and eating uncooked meat can now cause Food Poisoning.

PC users can opt-in to the Steam beta.

Much like it did with the post-apocalyptic RPG Fallout 4, the video game publisher and developer Bethesda has now announced that Skyrim Special Edition will be receiving its very own Survival Mode in order to ratchet up the difficulty for players of the fantasy title.

At E3 this year, Bethesda unveiled the Creation Club-a mod-driven initiative for Fallout 4 and Skyrim in response to its ill-fated paid mods scheme of 2015.

Similar to Fallout 4's Creation Club, credits can be purchased in packs of 750, 1500, 3000, and 5500-which translates to £5.99/$7.99, £10.99/$14.99, £18.99/$24.99, and £29.99/$39.99 in real money. "Content is fully curated and compatible with the main game and official add-ons".

Though the Steam page for Creation Club has gone live, there is no word yet as to when precisely the content will be available for download.
