Amid Hellboy Reboot Controversy, Lost Actor Could Replace Ed Skrein

13 Septembre 2017

Even the makers acknowledged their mistake in the casting and assured fans that they would look for a proper replacement.

The Korean-American actor could step into the role that was left vacant following an outcry over a white actor playing an American-Asian character. Both of his grandparents served with the Imperial army during World War II.

Skrein, who starred as villain Ajax in Deadpool, said in a statement: "It is clear that representing this character in a culturally accurate way holds significance for people, and that to neglect this responsibility would continue a worrying tendency to obscure ethnic minority stories and voice in the arts. I feel it is important to honour and respect that".

THR reports that Daniel Dae-Kim is set to take over Skrein's role as Major Daimio, a shapeshifting Japanese-American soldier who worked with Hellboy in the comic book series by Mike Mignola.

'Vikings' Renewed For Sixth Season By History
It is also a top-five drama across ad supported cable and averaged 4.1 million total viewers last season in Live+7. HISTORY announced Tuesday that they had officially ordered 20 episodes for a sixth season of the seafaring epic.

Kim left Hawaii Five-O earlier this year, saying he had "made the hard choice not to continue" after failing to reach an agreement with CBS.

Kim and Park had appeared in the show since its inception in 2010. But these are huge milestones in the ongoing conversation about Hollywood whitewashing-a conversation that until recently, wasn't being heard by the wider public, let alone studio executives.

What do you all think? Apparently, actor Daniel Dae Kim is in talks with the filmmakers to play #Ben Daimio in the proposed film.
