Bad news for Arsenal & Francis Coquelin after Bournemouth

11 Septembre 2017

The second period was less than three minutes old when Bournemouth's Jermain Defoe headed against the post but Welbeck struck again for Arsenal soon afterwards, finishing superbly from a tight angle.

Arsene Wenger has no doubts about Alexis Sanchez's mindset, despite the Chile international's mixed reception from fans at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

Arsenal bounced back from successive defeats with Danny Welbeck's brace of goals sealing a comfortable 3-0 Premier League win yesterday against a Bournemouth side who have yet to pick up a point in four games this season.

Sanchez was back on club duty, having seen his push for a move to Manchester City fall flat before the transfer deadline amid a miserable worldwide break with Chile, and made way for Alexandre Lacazette in the starting XI, before emerging to a mixture of cheers and jeers in the second period.

Arsene Wenger has dismissed claims that Alexis Sanchez has returned to Arsenal overweight and insists he is fully committed to the Gunners despite his failed move to Manchester City.

Wenger was also asked if Coquelin's setback could see Jack Wilshere return to Arsenal first team action. "He is focused. He told me he is focused on the Premier League and Europa League".

"No, he's not fat", the Arsenal manager said. "On top of that Chile had a bad experience [in the worldwide break], but he came back full of desire and was ready to play".

"We have had a hard few weeks and we got the right result", he said.

Towards the end of a transfer window full of speculation, the Chile star came close to a move to Manchester City.

"We need to bounce back", he said.

"He is not fat". "I don't know how bad it is but he's certainly out for next week's game". "His fat percentage is under 10, so that's not fat, but you know how it is when you don't win, people find every problem for you", Wenger said.
