Veteran Actor Richard Anderson Dies at age 91

01 Septembre 2017

Richard Anderson, best known for his portrayal of Oscar Goldman - boss to Lee Majors on "The Six Million Dollar Man" and Lindsay Wagner in the spinoff "The Bionic Woman" - died Thursday at age 91.

In his 1991 book, "Evenings with Cary Grant", Anderson said the legendary actor invited him out to lunch in 1949, which resulted in a six-year contract with MGM. Later, he appeared in in such films as Stanley Kubrick's "Paths of Glory", "The Long Hot Summer", "Compulsion" and "Seven Days in May".

"I met Richard in 1967 when he first guest starred on The Big Valley", Majors said in a statement issued by Anderson's publicist. He also coined the opening credits for "The Six Million Dollar Man:" "Gentlemen, we can rebuild him".

Anderson famously played OSI honcho Oscar Goldman simultaneously on both TV shows in the 1970s.

Meanwhile fellow Brexiteer Peter Bone declared: "If she delivers Brexit , and I think she will, then she will be a national hero". Most Britons think the Conservative Party will be worse off if Theresa May remains as leader, an exclusive Sky Data poll reveals.

"Richard became a dear and loyal friend, and I have never met a man like him", he recalled. On the TV side he had roles in Gunsmoke, Hawaii Five-O, Dynasty, Dan August, Perry Mason, The Fugitive, Charlie's Angels, The A-Team, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Bonanza, Ironside, Daniel Boone and Murder, She Wrote. He was still the sweet, charming man when I spoke to him a few weeks ago.

"I can't begin to say how much I have always admired and have been grateful for the elegance and loving friendship I was blessed to have with Richard Anderson", she told Deadline. "He will be greatly missed". He also acted as producer when "The Six Million Dollar Man" and "The Bionic Woman" were revived in later years as TV movies.

Anderson is survived by three daughters: Ashley, Brooke, and Deva, and will be remembered forever by the legion of fans who loved the man behind the bionics of two of our favorite science fiction series.
