Schalke confirm captain Benedikt Howedes has asked to join Juventus

26 Août 2017

Reports in Germany suggest Liverpool are weighing up a move for Howedes and Jurgen Klopp has been handed a major boost after the World Cup victor admitted he would prefer to leave the Bundesliga.

After Thursday's Champions League draw, Juventus CEO Giuseppe Marotta expressed the club's interest while speaking to Premium Sport TV.

With Leonardo Bonucci joining AC Milan earlier in the summer, Juventus have been in the market for an experienced defender and the German World Cup victor has been identified as a primary target.

Now it seems they are set to miss out on Howedes too.

The Bianconeri are set to take the next step in their pursuit of the 29-year-old defender on Saturday and according to Sky Italia, hold a fresh round of talks with Schalke over a deal.

He said: "We are looking for a defender who may play both to the centre and as wing-back".

Sidharth tweeted that he hoped there would be peace in Haryana after the Ram Rahim verdict so people could watch his new film. He is presently also shooting for Aiyaari, where he will be sharing the screen with Manoj Bajpayee for the first time.

"Howedes is an option".

That has now led Klopp to turn his attentions to other options on his wish lift, and Howedes is believed to be front and centre to any further additions he wishes to bring to Anfield ahead of the September deadline. "But we still have to discuss terms with the player and Schalke".

Klopp could surely get him for less, if Howedes is as keen on Liverpool as he is on Juventus.

"We have the beginnings of an agreement".

Howedes has been at Schalke since 2001 but his agent, Volker Struth, said he now wants to leave Gelsenkirchen.
