The young lady shouts in torment and over and over cries "please stop" as the gathering tries to drive her legs into a split. The coach was shown holding down each girl's shoulders and pushing them further. The video also shows the teen's arms being held by her teammates, making it impossible for her to move. That same day Denver Public schools Superintendent Tom Boasberg announced that Williams, the assistant cheerleading coach Mariah Cladis, East High principal Andy Mendelsberg, assistant principal Lisa Porter and deputy general counsel Michael Hickman were placed on leave. The station says the videos were shot on the phones of two team members and were sent anonymously to the station.

"I have attached a video of the forced splits she and her other team members were forced to do at cheerleading camp and practices; unless they had a doctor's note".

"There is so much trauma that it caused a blood vessel to burst on the front of her leg", Kirsten Wakefield said.

Ally Wakefield, one of the girls who said she was forced into the position was not able to get up out of the split on her own, she told KUSA.

"We don't and won't permit any circumstance in which an understudy is compelled to play out an action or exercise past the time when they express their want to stop".

"With regards to certain videos, I can not state strongly enough - as the superintendent of the school district and as the father of two high school-aged daughters - that the images and actions depicted are extremely distressing and absolutely contrary to our core values as a public school community", Boasber said.
