Assassin's Creed Invading Final Fantasy XV in Bizarre Cross-Over Event

24 Août 2017

Today, Square Enix has announced new content for Final Fantasy XV.

On top of that, the "Master Assassin's Robes" for Noctis can be obtained by receiving the Dream Egg, an item available at the Moogle Chocobo Carnival, which is now live until late September.

As for the main Assassin's Festival event, it arrives on the following day, August 31, as a free DLC to all players.

This event will have the Assassin's Festival take over the town of Lestallum, featuring gameplay elements from the Assassin's Creed series, mini-games and exclusive items.

According to Ubisoft the idea stems from an informal meeting between the development teams of Assassin's Creed and Final Fantasy XV nearly three years ago during the Tokyo Game Show.

Final Fantasy XV will first pay homage to Assassin’s Creed

Since Assassin's Creed Origins has yet to release, no details were offered as to what players can expect from this collaboration in Origins itself. This has apparently been brewing for nearly three years ago. "There's a lot of respect between the two teams and we couldn't be more thrilled with the opportunity to pay homage to each other's work". Indeed, Square Enix's popular RPG is getting a free Assassin's Creed-related timed expansion due 29th August and lasting through 31st Jan, 2018.

You can see this in action in the Assassin's Festival trailer above.

However, eagle-eyed fans may want to go back and look at a Final Fantasy XV trailer from November of past year, the Assassin's Creed Origins announcement trailer, and most recently, the Assassin's Creed Origins Gamescom trailer to spot Easter eggs signaling the unofficial start of the references made between the two franchises.
