While Shane and Corbin argue, Owens lands a low blow on AJ. "A McMahon screwed a legendary Canadian out of a title once again", he said, referring to the Montreal Screwjob 20 years ago. Styles then called Owens "a whiny ass little bitch" and offered another title opportunity tonight, promising to shut Owens up for good. At one point, the current champion's odds moved to +235, meaning she was an underdog in her title match.
- Daniel Bryan is backstage on the phone when The Singh Brothers walk in.
They cut to Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. Reminding Zayn that they have 15 years together in the industry, he said Zayn is the only one he can actually trust despite their recent problems. Shinsuke Nakamura defeated The Singh Brothers in a handicap match and laid out WWE Champion Jinder Mahal. The fight spills out to ringside where English whips Roode into the fan barricade then hits a splash on him. Baron Corbin was the special guest referee for the match, and Shane McMahon got involved, as well. He can see Owens is visibly upset but he did exactly what he said he would do - call the match right down the middle, and in the end, AJ won fair and square.
Natalya strutted to the ring with the SmackDown Women's Championship on her shoulder.
The finish came when Naomi went for a split-legged moonsault, but Natalya was able to counter by putting her knees in the air. The same sports book also lists Naomi and Natalya at identical 5 to 6 odds to win today's women's championship match.
