New "Smackdown Live" Women's Champion Crowned at "SummerSlam" 2017

23 Août 2017

While Shane and Corbin argue, Owens lands a low blow on AJ. "A McMahon screwed a legendary Canadian out of a title once again", he said, referring to the Montreal Screwjob 20 years ago. Styles then called Owens "a whiny ass little bitch" and offered another title opportunity tonight, promising to shut Owens up for good. At one point, the current champion's odds moved to +235, meaning she was an underdog in her title match.

- Daniel Bryan is backstage on the phone when The Singh Brothers walk in.

"We've had this incredible lineage in WWE, wrestling has been our life". Post-match, Jinder Mahal attacked Nakamura, but Shinsuke recovered and put Mahal down with Kinshasha.

They cut to Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. Reminding Zayn that they have 15 years together in the industry, he said Zayn is the only one he can actually trust despite their recent problems. Sami says sometimes he forgot what they were fighting about. Now, he says, Smackdown Live has gone from being great to absolutely glorious.

Bobby Roode defeated Aiden English in his main roster debut. Roode makes his glorious entrance and Aiden English is not happy. After the match, Roode congratulated McMahon and Bryan for "breaking the bank" and signing him. "In a NY minute, SmackDown Live went from being great to being absolutely. glorious".

-Dot Net Members will hear my Smackdown audio review later tonight. It appears that the Nakamura/Mahal feud isn't over yet. Roode's debut match is up next. The SmackDown GM then introduced Shelton Benjamin, saying he would be a great tag team partner for Gable. He said that he's been watching WWE TV and he now knows what it takes to be a star in WWE.

Khairul Hafiz conquers Southeast Asia with 100m gold
In 10.38 seconds last night, Malaysian sprinter Khairul Hafiz Jantan ended his country's 14-year wait for another men's 100m gold.

It was a night of some solid in-ring action and some that frustrated between the ropes, but the two tag team championship bouts were really quite special and were candidates for match of the night. Now WWE is just messing with us.

Backstage, Kevin Owens ran into the Fashion Police. While this probably won't happen, a win for the Hype Bros could shake up the tag team division. New Day was nowhere to be seen.

Shinsuke Nakamura defeated The Singh Brothers in a handicap match and laid out WWE Champion Jinder Mahal. The fight spills out to ringside where English whips Roode into the fan barricade then hits a splash on him. Baron Corbin was the special guest referee for the match, and Shane McMahon got involved, as well. He can see Owens is visibly upset but he did exactly what he said he would do - call the match right down the middle, and in the end, AJ won fair and square.

Natalya strutted to the ring with the SmackDown Women's Championship on her shoulder.

The finish came when Naomi went for a split-legged moonsault, but Natalya was able to counter by putting her knees in the air. The same sports book also lists Naomi and Natalya at identical 5 to 6 odds to win today's women's championship match.

There was a backstage segment with Dolph Ziggler.
