Manchester United off to best scoring start in 110 years

21 Août 2017

Manchester United were on pace for an ugly win.

Despite their eye-catching win on the opening Premier League weekend, Mourinho is adamant that his team should not be considered the favourites to win the title.

"The team was confident from the first minute".

Romelu Lukaku of Manchester United celebrates scoring his sides second goal with Daley Blind.

United have now scored an astonishing eight goals in two games this season without conceding a single goal.

GK David de Gea, 7 - Another relatively quite game.

Antonio Valencia - Another strong display from United's skipper.

Romelu Lukaku continued his good show for the Red Devils after he struck once again in the 80 minute to extend United's lead to 2-0. Along with the goal he played a great defensive match making multiple good clearances and interceptions.

"So we are confident with the work we did".

Swans might not have threatened so much against Southampton but they'll be extremely happy with taking a point on the road.

That is despite suggestions Antonio Conte's side have not strengthened during a transfer window that saw them lose midfielder Nemanja Matic to United. Another performance where he made everything click. He needs to get some of that cleverness about where to be without the ball.

Questions were raised in the build-up to the game as to why Jose Mourinho was not affording Anthony Martial more game time.

The available first team players were joined by new FC Barcelona player Paulinho in his first session as a blaugrana. With the 2017/18 La Liga season set to begin, Mark Donaldson and Paul Mariner give their first week picks.

Manchester United (Man U) left it to the last 10 minutes to sink Swansea in their second English Premier League match, with three quick-fire goals.

There are many expectations from Mkhitaryan and Martial to truly shine this season. Curled in a few risky crosses.

Kyle Bartley comes into the defence for Wayne Routledge, who is dropped to the bench. Ran at defenders extremely well.

The Frenchman was very nervous in the first half.

Javier Hernandez's double either side of halftime had seemed to complete an astonishing comeback for West Ham who trailed after Manolo Gabbiadini and a Dusan Tadic penalty put the Saints two up with their first home league goals since April. He was part of an attack that truly wore down the opposition, as United scored three goals in a four minute span (80′-84′).

MF Marouane Fellaini, NR - Brought on for Mata in the 75th minute to see the match out.

Roque Mesa - Tried to get on the ball but outclassed by United's midfield and substituted.

"Anthony Martial is working hard".

Had trouble with Rashford and then Martial and had little protection.

"I have faith in him", Mourinho told reporters ahead of Saturday's trip to Swansea City.

Ander Herrera (for Mkhitaryan, 85 mins) - No time to make an impact.
