Ousmane Dembele has been suspended by Borussia Dortmund after skipping training, with the Bundesliga club having turned down an offer from Barcelona for the winger earlier on Thursday.

Reds' fans have taken to the Liverpool Echo in their anger over Philippe Coutinho's pending £109 million-plus transfer to Barcelona.

Coutinho missed both Liverpool's Premier League opener against Watford FC and the Reds 2-1 win over Hoffenheim last night.

This comes after Barcelona general manager Pep Segura has said the signings of Coutinho and Borussia Dortmund's Ousmane Dembele are "close" after watching his side lose to arch-rivals Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup yesterday morning (Singapore time).

"We have to help the team".

Liverpool have already beaten Palace this summer, but manager Jurgen Klopp says that result will have no bearing on this weekend's encounter. I have never met him so no idea.

Barcelona have so far not come a millimetre closer to their wish of completing the Dembele transfer. They expect a lot from us because of what we did last season. "I think it was six months before".

On Segura's comments, Klopp said: "I don't know why other people are saying what they're saying".

"Sergio Aguero is another player that might be interested if he's not happy at Manchester City, but it comes back to being late in the window and that is the hard situation Liverpool find themselves in".

"At the time when I was at MK there was contact with Liverpool before I signed for Tottenham, but that was before we'd even spoke to Tottenham", he said in an interview.

The Mail claims that Dortmund have agreed an initial payment of £90m for Dembele, while a similar sum is expected to be accepted by Liverpool in the coming days for Coutinho. Liverpool's game a year ago was all about attackers alternating positions so much, and it was often down to Coutinho to choose the right tempo of the play.
