Juventus sign Blaise Matuidi for €20 million

18 Août 2017

Matuidi signed a three-year contract with Juventus on Friday after transferring from Paris Saint-Germain.

Juventus's official account on Twitter has reported that Matuidi has entered J-Medical again and the official announcement and signing of the contract is expected to be held on Thursday (17/8).

No financial details were given, but Juventus will reportedly pay PSG €20million (£18m) plus bonuses for the player, who had a year left on his contract.

Matuidi, capped 58 times by France, had joined PSG from Saint-Etienne in July 2011 right at the start of the Qatari takeover which revolutionised the club.

He flourished from a largely defensive midfielder to a robust, tireless runner with an eye for goal and an enormous work-rate.

The French national team midfielder has flown to Turin on Wednesday (16/8) and successfully completed the first part of a medical test at J-Medical, a Juventus medical facility in Turin Italy.

Overcoming some technical deficiencies in his game, Matuidi gradually earned himself a place in the France lineup and became a key player at the 2014 World Cup and last year's European Championship. But the club blocked his move, considering him too important to leave. He also collected three French cups and four league cups, as well as twice being named in Ligue 1's Team of the Year and French Player of the Year for 2015.
