Grant Perry Fully Reinstated

MI has reinstated wide receiver Grant Perry a week after he was sentenced to probation in connection with an October 2016 incident outside a bar.

Perry had been participating in the summer conditioning program and fall camp practices but was officially reinstated on Friday. He then was suspended from the Orange Bowl matchup with Florida State.

The University and Michigan Athletic Department have closely followed the legal proceedings involving Grant Perry since October. He was suspended from all team activities in the winter of 2017, including all of spring practice and the team's trip to Rome. "Based on that review, we have determined that Grant is reinstated to full participation with the football team".

The announcement came after Perry's felony charges were dropped and he was placed on a 1-year probation.

We conducted an athletic department and institutional review following the conclusion of the legal process. Manuel said Perry must abide by the terms of his probation as well as "additional internal requirements" in order to remain a part of the football team moving forward. Perry allegedly grabbed a woman's backside and groin outside an East Lansing bar before running away from police.

Assistant Ingham County Prosecutor Christina Johnson described Perry's actions as a "crime of arrogance, entitlement and power", according to the Lansing State Journal, but said didn't beleive there was sexual intent.

However, his court case has been resolved and he avoided jail time, but was sentenced to 12 months of probation.

The victim, a Michigan State University student at the time of the incident, told Ingham County Circuit Court Judge Joyce Draganchuk on August 4 she was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder after the incident. He also is required to serve 60 hours of community service.
