According to MetroNews in West Virginia, the child's body is at the state Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy. After investigating, troopers contacted authorities in Jacksonville, Florida where Newsome is believed to be from.

The original Christmas Story starred Peter Billingsley as Ralphie Parker and Melinda Dillon as Ralphie's mom.
