Government orders probe against bureaucrat Radheshyam Mopalwar

When grilled two days ago in the House in Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis's presence, Mehta had said he had inadvertently deemed the CM's approval for the proposal (in which he is accused of wrongdoing) unnecessary, and pushed the file for further process. The issue was raised in both houses of the state legislature and is connected to the alleged disproportionate assets of the IAS officer, who is now heading the CM's pet project, the Mumbai-Nagpur super expressway. "These calls have been recorded, transcribed and translated by a company approved by the state government", Munde said. He said the inquiry would be completed in a month and action would be taken against whoever is found guilty.

Opposition leaders, however, were not happy with the reply and staged a walkout.

Fadnavis has said he will consult the Opposition regarding the terms of the inquiry. However, only after the recordings are sent to a forensic laboratory for verification, will it be clear if the person in the voice recording is indeed Mopalwar.

"There have been a total of 550 calls by Mopalwar to fix the deal".

The Times report that Wenger held a meeting with Sanchez in which they discusses the Chile international's future. Manager Arsene Wenger has reiterated to Sanchez that he will not be sold - and certainly not to an English club.

Fadnavis said the government had taken note of the clip and orders for an inquiry have been released. The channel, however, claimed that the CD had been provided to it and it had not authenticated the contents.

"The way the Fadnavis government is going soft in Mopalwar case, it dents the image of the BJP-led government. He (Mopalwar) should not be kept on any important post till the inquiry is over", Chavan said.

The opposition had alleged that Mehta overruled the housing department's view that the Development Control Rules did not support his decision to allow transfer of extra building (development) rights sanctioned to slum dwellers to another residential scheme. Mehta has also approached the Commissioner of Police seeking an inquiry into a letter being circulating in his name, which alleged that his own party members were supplying information against him to the Opposition.

Even as the Opposition in state legislature continued to demand his resignation over corruption charges, housing minister Prakash Mehta's supporters have expectedly blamed his rivals within the Bharatiya Janata Party as the source of these allegations. The Opposition will press for Mehta's removal", said former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan."The CM has announced an inquiry into Radheshyam Mopalwar's alleged audio tapes, then how can Mopalwar remain in the same post till the inquiry is over? I have already ordered a stay to the project after I learnt about the irregularities.
