Trump Rips China for Doing 'Nothing' With NKorea After New Missile Test

30 Juillet 2017

Pyongyang, which this week held another successful test of an intercontinental ballistic missile-that analysts said could mean the U.S. mainland is now within range-counts China as its sole major ally.

The US Air Force said in a statement on Sunday that two B-1B bombers have flown over the Korean peninsula in direct response to recent North Korean missile tests.

"North Korea remains the most urgent threat to regional stability", Gen. Terrence O'Shaughnessy, a Pacific Air Forces Commander, said in a statement released Saturday.

Earlier in the day, Pentagon spokesman Jeff Davis told media that it has detected an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) launch by North Korea.

Meanwhile, South Korea President Moon Jae-in has called for talks with the USA on deploying more anti-missile defense units in the region. "China could easily solve this problem!(sic)". Friday's missile reportedly flew 900 kilometres higher than the first.

The US has in the past used similar flights as a show of force in response to North Korean missile or nuclear tests.

However, Trump lashed out at China for being unable to rein in North Korea, as both countries exchange billions per year in trade across the border that separates them.

It has repeatedly called for both sides to step back, proposing that the US halt military drills in the region and that North Korea freeze weapons tests. They include an intermediate range missile the North says is capable of hitting Alaska and Hawaii and a solid-fuel midrange missile, which analysts say can be fired faster and more secretly than liquid-fuel missiles.

Louis, Paul Goldschmidt homered and drove in three runs for Arizona, and Zack Greinke pitched seven strong innings. Making his second start of the season, McHugh dominated the Tigers, allowing one run on four hits in six innings.

North Korea's state television broadcast pictures of the launch, showing the missile lifting off in a fiery blast in darkness and Kim cheering with military aides.

"The United States will take all necessary steps to ensure the security of the American homeland and protect our allies in the region".

On Friday, North Korea conducted the second test of an intercontinental ballistic missile in less than a month.

Yet as early as May, Trump had conceded that China was "trying hard" to dissuade North Korea from its missile tests.

After speaking Saturday with Tillerson, Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida said Tokyo would join Washington in new appeals to those countries to stop North Korea.

Tensions on the Korean Peninsula have been ratcheted up since the start of a year ago, with North Korea testing two nuclear bombs and test-firing a series of missiles. " Trump said in a subsequent tweet". It had halted that rollout under the new administration of President Moon Jae-in, but after the ICBM test Moon called for talks with the USA on temporarily deploying more launchers.

"If the United States sticks to its military adventurism against us and super-intensive sanctions schemes, we will respond with stern action of justice as we have already declared", the North's state-run Korean Central News Agency said.

South Korean Defense Minister Song Young-moo called for the deployment of strategic U.S. military assets which usually means stealth bombers and aircraft carriers as well as additional launchers of an advanced USA anti-missile system.
