Together, the pair take on a family of armed vehicle robbers in a case that eventually gets so big that it threatens to upend Boston's city-wide criminal justice system.

That's exactly the plan for the duo's next television drama, "City on a Hill", which has received a pilot order from Showtime according to a report by Variety.

While it isn't a shocker that Matt and Ben are working on yet another Boston-set project, it is surprising that the series is going to Showtime.

The project will be written by Chuck MacLean and executive produced by James Mangold and Jennifer Todd for Pearl Street Films, along with Affleck and Damon.

Based on an idea co-created by Affleck and Chuck MacLean, the new show will center around the the real life events surrounding what has become known as the "Boston Miracle". The drama is a fictional account of what was called the "Boston Miracle" and centers on an African-American District Attorney who comes in from Brooklyn advocating change and the unlikely alliance he forms with a corrupt yet venerated Federal Bureau of Investigation veteran who is invested in maintaining the status quo.

Gavin O'Connor directed the pilot and states, "Chuck [Maclean] wrote a pressure-cooker of a script steeped in the tribal codes of a Shakespeare play - family, blood, betrayal, honor". His take on the ties that bind is handled with a deep honesty and insight. "I see the show as a brawling thriller - and an intimate family drama - played out on the rough streets of Boston", added O'Connor.
