Donald Trump Says He Has 'Complete Power' To Pardon

Manafort is seen as a key figure in the investigation because of his senior role in the campaign and his participation in a June 2016 meeting that included the president's son, Donald Trump Jr, close adviser Jared Kushner and Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya.

Trump Jr and Manafort reached a deal calling for them to provide records to the panel and to be privately interviewed ahead of any public session, USA news channel CNN reported Friday.

The letter from Mueller began: "As you are aware the Special Counsel's office is investigating the Russian government's efforts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election, including any links or coordination between the Russian government and individuals associated with the campaign of Donald Trump".

US intelligence agencies have already concluded that Russian Federation used a combination of hacking and disinformation to influence the 2016 presidential election to boost Trump's candidacy and damage Hillary Clinton's.

Schiff said Kushner will be available to the committee for two hours, and said this would just be the first interview with him. Look what Hillary Clinton may have gotten away with.

Congressional committees also are exploring Russia's influence into the US elections.

A spokeswoman for Rice confirmed that the closed-door meeting happened Friday.

The US President, Donald Trump discussed earlier this month, forming a solid cybersecurity unit with Vladimir Putin. Panel staff met with former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper on Monday and former Obama chief of staff Denis McDonough on Tuesday.

Legal experts and commentators are divided over whether the presidential pardon power can be used this way, but the troubling implications of such a move are much less controversial. Rice has said she did nothing improper. She says: "It's relevant that people know what the motivations are. That is what's fair is fair".

Trump also could have been referring to the investigations by the FBI and two congressional committees into the links between his campaign team and Russian Federation, because he alluded to that issue in an earlier tweet.

That tweet came in the context of other complaints about the scope of the investigation into Trump and Russian electoral interference headed by special prosecutor Robert Mueller, a frequent target of Trump's ire.

That's according to three people with knowledge of the matter.

He said Trump's tweet on Sunday declaring his ability to grant pardons was "rather unremarkable".

Mueller is also investigating purchases by Russian buyers of Trump properties, the 2013 Miss Universe pageant in Moscow, a SoHo (New York) development involving Russian associates and Trump's 2008 sale of a Florida mansion to a Russian oligarch, Bloomberg reported.
