Aston Villa have announced the signing of Ahmed Elmohamdy from Hull City on a three-year deal after activating his release clause.

The former ENPPI winger joined Hull City in 2013 from Sunderland, making 218 appearances that included the 2014 FA Cup defeat to Arsenal.

The player told avfc.co.uk "I am delighted to be here at Aston Villa".

Aston Villa have followed up on the signing of Ahmed Elmohamady by bringing Stoke's Glenn Whelan down the road to Birmingham.

Everton's Funes Mori out for up to nine months
He suffered a meniscus tear while playing for Argentina against Bolivia in March, an injury which curtailed his season at Everton. Everton defender Ramiro Funes Mori is expected to be out for six to nine months after undergoing knee surgery in Barcelona.

The Egyptian global made 218 appearances and scored 12 goals for the Tigers after initially joining them on loan from Sunderland in 2012.

The Egyptian global played under Bruce at both Hull and Sunderland and will join up with the Villa squad in Germany for the Cup of Traditions tournament.

He becomes Villa's third new signing of the summer, following the arrivals of John Terry and Sam Johnstone. ".it's one of the very biggest clubs in England and its history and tradition is there for all to see". "I know he has a phenomenal record in achieving promotion to the top-flight and, having spoken to him at length, I am more than aware of how much he wants to get back there again with this great club".
