Google Fiber CEO departs after five months, Larry Page notes continued commitment

Google has not indicated whether the department's trajectory will change while it seeks a new chief officer, but Alphabet CEO Larry Page reaffirmed the tech company's investment in Fiber in a statement provided to Bloomberg.

The rollout of Fiber was paused in nine cities and roughly nine percent of the division's staff was cut while the hunt went on for a new chief, and while Barratt moved to an advisory role, McCray accepted the job of Google Access CEO - the unit that houses Fiber - in February.

The future does not seem to be as bright as it once was for Google Fiber.
